We are looking for an industrial staff chemist to join the R&D team in the Industrial UV LAB. Individual is to provide expertise and apply experience in formulation, testing, scale up, and commercialization of UV curable ink-jet technologies. Responsibilities will include working as a chemistry staff member for industrial product development and serving as a liaison with application testing. This role requires experience and knowledge of UV chemistry, ink formulation, testing and applications. Experience in developing ink-jet UV inks will be advantage. Strong problem-solving and professional communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely communicate technical results to Supervisors is required.


This is a position involved in researching, developing and commercializing new ink and adhesive products for ink-jet printing market locally and abroad. The employee is responsible for experimental setups, data collection, result analysis, and supporting the company's strategic mission, development vision and roadmap. The employee must converse in the native languages of the country where work is conducted, as well as know customer practices (culture). The employee is going to take complete ownership of the new product and is responsible for technical support.


Responsibilities:

  • Development of UV curable inks for inkjet printers on various applications.
  • Multitask and deliver results in a fast paced and challenging environment.
  • Source new chemicals and explore new technology to create new products.

  • Develop precise instructions and methods to assure reliability, consistency and compliance to safety standards.
  • Timely Documentation, including technical reports and database of experimental results.
  • The employee is also responsible for maintaining complete and accurate records on intellectual properties to pursue publications, patent application or trade secrets as appropriate.
  • The employee is responsible for modifying and developing prototype products for printing trials and assisting with scale-up from development to production quantities in collaboration with other chemist and field engineers.


Education

  • BS Degree (required) or Higher in Chemistry or related science field


Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of chemistry, preferred organic or polymers.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with formulation of UV curable ink/ coating products.
  • Familiar with methods testing performance/properties of ink/coating.
  • Knowledge of adhesion of inks/coatings on various substrates.
  • Experience of formulation of Inkjet fluids is an advantage. 
  • Knowledge of pigments/colorants is an advantage.
  • Multilingual: Preferred.  English, Mandarin, Japanese.
